Brief Career Summary and Experience

Almost 50 years experience in the design, manufacture, service, repair and operation of heavy goods vehicles and trailers. During this time the following periods have been spent in the activities indicated.

• 10 years in the re-construction of new 4x2 configuration vehicles converting them to various types of multi-axle vehicle. Design and manufacture of heavy trailers.

• 10 years in the manufacture and service of heavy duty trailers, both conventional and tipping designs, and goods vehicle bodywork.

• 8 Years in the design and construction of fire engines and related fire fighting equipment.

• 13 years as group technical manager of a major South African road transport company.

• 2 years with a major SA heavy vehicle OEM as Engineering Liaison and Quality Control Mgr.

• Sundry Periods involved in technical functions directly relating to the above.

Current Related Activities

Full Member of the United Kingdom based Institute of Road Transport Engineers, past member of IRTE Johannesburg Centre Committee and recent past Chairman of the IRTE Technical Committee

Long standing participant on a number of South African Bureau of Standards working committees

Member of the Department of Transport convened Vehicle Technical Committee

Driving Licence

South African Code EC licence and current PrDP for goods and passenger vehicles.

Member of the South African Guild of Motoring Journalists

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access packages.
