Forensic Accident / Collision Investigator
and Reconstructionist Level 4:
We specialise in carrying out accident /
collision investigations (with specialisation on heavy
commercial vehicles, passenger and freight) to determine
the root cause.
We carryout detailed analysis of the
possible scenarios with the aid of the Crash Zone
computer simulation package.
As a Recognised Transport Engineer
(Accredited by the British Engineer Counsel) combined
with the experience gained as a Diesel Mechanic I have a
unique mix of academic and practical skill which
contribute to unravelling complex collision sites.

Determine the mechanical condition
of the vehicles involved and their compliance to the
roadworthiness standards applicable at the time of
the collision.

Develop managerial / operational
interventions to prevent or minimise future
occurrences.

Determine strategic disaster
recovery plan to ensure customer satisfaction and
operational productivity.

Present findings in a court of law
as an expert witness.
Fleet Engineering
-
Design and implement vehicle
replacement policy based on age, availability and
utilisation.

To design and implement vehicle
configurations to optimise the payload in accordance
with legal and engineering constraints.

Ensure a comprehensive maintenance
policy which conforms to the manufactures standards
and requirements.

Ensure that the vehicle conforms to
acceptable ergonomic and safety requirements.

Introduce / reinforce the controls
and policies to ensure the global expenditure is
proportionate to the budget.

Maintain a focus on the maintenance
of safety critical components.

Ensure that company policy is
amended to take cognisance of technical and or legal
changes affecting vehicle utilisation.
Operations Management
Monitor transport performance levels in
relation to targets and goals defined by area and market
share.
Insure optimum vehicle utilisation.
Insure optimum load configurations.
Insure the optimum use of human
recourses.
Insure that the negotiated service
levels are realistically achievable within the
constraints of the National Road Traffic Act, being
cognitive of the external factors which may negatively
affect such agreements.
Assist the sales department with the
accurate costing of loads and / or contracts.
Track operational efficiency as measured
against the forecasted sales budget measured in c/k/ton
or c/k/M3 depending on load configuration.
Focus on the technical availability of
vehicles and equipment to offer maximum customer service
without compromising manufactures warranties or the road
worthiness of vehicles.
Controlling the use of people in meeting
the technical and operational objectives within a
pre-specified budget.
Carryout regular national vehicle
audits.
Coordinate the ISO 9000, 14000, 18000,
OSH, SHEQ and Mine TMM (trackless moving machinery)
safety and quality programs.
Coordinate the operational and safety
risk assessments based on the prescribed ISO, OSH, SHEQ
and Mine TMM standards.
Identify and motivate individual
training needs.
